Community Dialogue: An intentional space to explore difficult topics

What is this workshop about?

Of the many experiences that connect us, it is often the more difficult topics–grief, homesickness, difference–that hold the greatest potential for connection, yet are the most difficult to navigate alone. This workshop is aimed towards groups who seek a supportive and structured space to explore these difficult topics. We start the process by co-creating an intention, topic, and design for the workshop; the group then partakes in a customized workshop with the aim of fostering peer-learning and perspective shifts; the final step is harvesting key learnings and identifying ways to sustain change and connection amongst group members. Through collaborative and creative methods, group members are able to explore difficult topics that are typically not given proper space, transform experiences into shared wisdom and resources, and increase resilience through connecting with community.

What can participants expect?

  • Co-creation of a workshop with the aim of exploring a topic meaningful to the group;

  • A supportive environment to explore topics that are not typically spoken about or lack a safer space;

  • Reflection, peer-learning, and personal/group transformation in a supportive environment;

  • Creative and interactive methods;

  • Chance to build individual and group resilience through resource building and connecting with community members;

  • Chance to sustain group connection by harvesting key takeaways and identifying how group might continue connecting beyond the workshop.
